I've been thinking about going the 9" route but worry about adapting the C5/6 brakes. I guess it wouldn't be to difficult to adapt. I just have no idea which housing ends would be best.

That's cool but the 8.5" is enough for me and cheaper too. I just gotta get working on it. Since I did the Zex and the cover I haven't been in too much of a rush.

Item #8006

SMALL-GM ENDS,SEAL STYLE,FOR 3.150" BEARING (PAIR)

Quote
These housing ends are CNC machined from alloy billet steel. They are for street use only and have OEM style inner-axle seals for oil control. Two inches wide with a 3.150" diameter axle bearing bore . The bolt pattern is 3.125" center-to-center across the top, 2.6875" center-to-center across the bottom, and 2.4375" center-to-center vertically. The bolt holes are 3/8" diameter. Designed to use a Ford style axle bearing with small GM drum brakes require bearing retainer plates (part no. 8026). The drum-brake-backing-plate center hole will need to be enlarged to fit over the 3.150" diameter bearing during assembly. Kit contains a pair of housing ends.

I say use the 9"/8.8" flanges. I say this because you can use bigger brakes. Ford explorer & crown vics used the 8.8 that will bolt straight to the 8.8 flange & certain 9" flanges. 11" rear rotors.

I like consumable parts from over the counter though.

Tobin at Kore3 says the exploder discs will work fine with C5/6 stuff up front but on track days expect to go through rotor since they are non vented.

I might look into getting these ends since the 8.8 won't work with the stupid offset center section.

BTW, C5/6 rears are 12x1" and vented. All around better then the exploder stuff but more expensive as well.

Yeah... true all all accounts. But for something used primarily on the street Exploder stuff should be fine & cheap enough to replace when used/used up.. broken. haha.

The exploder parts are much cheaper that's for sure and they are more then capable.
